PTHA 1409. Introduction to Physical Therapy.                                                                4:3:4

Introduction to the profession of physical therapy and the role of the physical therapist assistant. Includes the application of basic patient handling, functional skills, communication, and selected data collection techniques.. Prerequisite: Admission to the PTA program. Study of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology as it relates to commonly encountered neurological conditions. Prerequisites: PTHA 1431, PTHA 2201 and PTHA 2409. [Offered summer 1 session to first year PTA students.] Type: Tech

A capstone course which engages the student in the discussion of professional issues and behaviors related to clinical practice and which prepares the student for transition into the workforce. Advanced course integrating previously learned and new skills/techniques into the comprehensive rehabilitation of selected musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and integumentary disorders.
