American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

The APTA represents more than 80,000 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students throughout the United States. Among the Associations objectives are enhancement of physical therapy education, practice, and research; accreditation of physical therapy education programs; communication with members; improvement of minority participation and representation in the profession; quality assurance; professional development and continuing education; interaction with governmental agencies and legislative bodies; attention to reimbursement issues; and implementation of public awareness programs.

Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA)

The Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). TPTA membership is approximately 4,500 physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, and students. The state is divided into 13 districts so members have local representation and a number of participation opportunities. Accreditation of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant Programs 

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is recognized as the accrediting agency for education programs in physical therapy by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Accreditation recognizes professional education programs for a level of performance, integrity, and quality that entitles them to the confidence of the education community and the public they serve. Accreditation status signifies that the program meets established and nationally accepted standards of scope, quality, and relevance.

The Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE)

The Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE) is a state of Texas agency, and by law is charged with protecting the health, safety and welfare of the people of Texas by licensing qualified practitioners of physical therapy and occupational therapy, and registering facilities in which those services are provided.
