Program Curriculum

The Program Curriculum for the College Readiness Department emphasizes an integral relationship with our freshman courses, such as ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302, HIST 1301, HIST 1302, MATH 1314, and MATH 1324. The intent of our College Readiness Curriculum is to prepare each student to succeed in his or her first year of required college core courses. These non-transfer courses are designed to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, arithmetic, and algebra skills for each student, and in some cases to provide preparation to pass the TSIA. The integrated reading and writing courses are taught in laboratory settings which enable individual instruction as well as an enhancement of computer skills. The math curriculum includes the integration of MyMathLab, a highly effective program that is designed to improve students' skills and confidence. Student success in these preparatory areas supports the college’s QEP (Quality Enhancement Plan) for all of our first-year students.
